We spend a good amount of family time in the mountains in Panorama, BC. When we are there, we nickname the time Pano-cation. This vibrant work depicts our stunning mountain range stylized in fantastic oranges and purples. This piece was underpainted in warm brown tones prior to the layering of the vibrant. I dislike the white of the canvas and the browns helped to tone it down and create more depth when layering colours. The deep blue of the sky was achieved through multiple layers of glazing which created a subtle glow over the mountain range. This is a departure from my landscapes of the past and it represents a more abstract take on the process.
